  • Open to various levels of experience, salary negotiable D. O. E
  • 37.5 hrs/week, reports to Head of Design
  • Split between office–based design work and on–site commissioning/fault–finding
  • Occasional travel required

We're working with a well–established Marine R&D/ Manufacturing company in Hampshire who are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the team.

We're looking for someone demonstrable electrical design experience and strong fault–finding skills, ideally from a Marine background.

You will have

  • Degree or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role within the marine electronics industry
  • Electrical circuit design – AC/DC
  • Can create and interpret schematics, technical drawings, control panel and circuit diagrams
  • In–depth knowledge of marine electrical standards
  • Strong fault–finding – logical, methodical approach
  • Experience with electric motors, switching circuits, and motor controllers
  • EPLAN and Auto CAD for design/documentation
  • Good understanding of control system principles
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to self–manage workload
  • Willing to travel for on–site commissioning

Desired but not essential

  • Marine CANbus systems – NMEA2000 and ruggedised sensors
  • Appreciation of PLC programming, particularly Siemens
  • Code Sys 3.5 experience
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Understanding of marine product certification requirements
  • SIL Levels and design risk assessments
  • Practical marine experience (personal boating or professional)
