This company plays a vital role in managing infrastructure and delivering essential services to communities. Your new role
As a GIS Asset Officer, you will be responsible for updating, maintaining, and developing the organisation\’s Geographical Information System (GIS). You will perform quality audits on as-built data, conduct site audits, and analyse GIS data to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. The role also involves supporting data sharing agreements, updating geographical data, and providing plant protection services when required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and updating GIS systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Conducting quality audits and site visits to verify as-laid data.
  • Performing data analysis and queries within GIS.
  • Managing data extracts and updates for internal and external use.
  • Supporting excavation activities by recording network locations.
  • Liaising with contractors and internal departments.
  • Printing maps and maintaining relevant databases and records.

What you\’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths (Grade C or above).
  • Experience using GIS systems.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full valid UK/EU driving licence.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • A third-level degree involving a GIS module.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and AutoCAD.
  • Previous experience using GIS in a utility environment.
