Overview
Your new company: Our client is a global engineering and manufacturing leader, specialising in application‑specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. Their Dumfries facility operates in a fast‑paced, safety‑driven environment with a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement and investment in people.
What you'll do: You will form part of the site's Engineering team, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of plant and production machinery. You will be responsible for electrical maintenance, problem solving and supporting site projects to improve performance and efficiency.
- Completing electrical maintenance (reactive, planned and improvement) across plant equipment, including PLCs and electrical drive systems.
- Working in line with company and statutory Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.
- Installing and maintaining 3‑phase and single‑phase systems, containment and network cabling.
- Supporting engineering and site‑wide project work aligned to continual investment.
- Conducting portable appliance testing (PAT).
- Mentoring apprentices and sharing best practice.
- Reading, understanding and updating electrical schematics and documentation.
What you'll need to succeed:
Essential:- Time‑served Electrician with City & Guilds or SVQ Level 3 (Electrical).
- Experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment post‑qualification.
- Basic understanding of ventilation, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam service systems.
- Strong electrical fault‑finding ability with a logical approach to problem solving.
- Knowledge of electrical control systems and electrical drive systems.
- Proactive attitude towards maintenance, reliability and equipment improvement.
- Competent using Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
- Experience with Siemens PLC logic, programming, fault diagnosis and repair.
- Experience working with industrial robotics.
- Understanding of plant safety systems and interlocking.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Experience with Siemens or Beckhoff PLCs (training can be provided).
