We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Building Services Consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the design and delivery of high-quality mechanical building services projects while working closely with clients and project stakeholders.
Role: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services designs across all stages of a project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to commissioning and completion. You will work both independently and collaboratively, providing technical expertise, managing project deliverables, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
- Prepare mechanical designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Undertake site surveys, condition surveys and technical inspections.
- Design HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems.
- Attend and lead client, contractor and design team meetings.
- Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
- Contribute to feasibility studies and due diligence reports.
- Support commissioning activities, snagging inspections and defect reporting.
- Prepare and contribute to CDM and residual risk documentation.
- Promote sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.
- Mentor and support graduate, trainee and junior engineers.
- Assist with fee proposals, tenders and business development activities.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, public health and mechanical services design.
- Experience delivering projects across a variety of sectors.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong technical and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
