A well‑established Building Services Engineering Consultancy is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing Cardiff office. Responsibilities

  • Produce electrical building services designs from concept through to construction stage
  • Carry out feasibility studies and technical design calculations
  • Prepare detailed specifications, reports, drawings, and design documentation
  • Work across a variety of sectors including education, commercial, healthcare, residential, leisure, and public sector projects
  • Undertake site surveys, inspections, and condition assessments where required
  • Represent the consultancy at client and contractor meetings
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines
  • Ensure compliance with current Building Regulations, British Standards, and industry guidance
  • Contribute to sustainable and low carbon design solutions
  • Support and mentor junior engineers where applicable
  • Assist in design reviews and quality assurance processes
  • Maintain project documentation in line with company standards
  • Manage workload effectively across multiple concurrent projects
  • Assist in fee proposals, bids, and project resource planning
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation across design delivery

Requirements

  • Electrical Building Services Engineering background (degree qualified or equivalent experience)
  • Experience within a consultancy or design environment is essential
  • Working towards or already engaged with a professional institution (IET / CEng pathway desirable)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experience with Hevacomp / TAS calculation software
  • Understanding of BIM Level 2 delivery
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, particularly Part L
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a logical engineering approach
  • Good understanding of sustainable and low carbon design principles
  • Experience attending client meetings and producing technical reports
