This award–winning building services consultancy integrates sustainable solutions into every project they deliver, across commercial, residential, education and industrial sectors. With a spacious, modern office in Bristol city centre and a team of around 20 engineers, they've built a genuinely collaborative environment, deliberately moving away from the traditional corporate mould in favour of something more people–focused. That culture shows up in the day–to–day: flexible working, monthly socials ranging from dragon boat racing to rugby tournaments, and a team that clearly enjoys spending time together.

Projects are varied and technically interesting – recent wins span new–build residential, commercial, hotels and laboratory fit–outs, with a consistent focus on low–carbon design running through everything they do. Following a period of steady growth and a strong run of new project wins, they're now looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to the team.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of mechanical design across a range of project types, working from concept strategies through to post–completion evaluation. Day–to–day this means producing detailed engineering design including calculations, schematics, specifications, equipment schedules and supporting documentation, as well as representing the business at client and project team meetings. There's a mentoring element to the role too – supporting less experienced engineers and contributing to their development within the business. You’ll be expected to stay current with legislation, standards and emerging technologies, and to bring that knowledge into project delivery.

About You

  • Mechanical building services design engineer with strong technical grounding and the ability to articulate design rationale clearly
  • Chartered or actively working towards chartership with a recognised institution
  • Solid understanding of low–carbon design principles and their practical application
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills – able to hold your own in client–facing situations and present confidently
  • Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, education, healthcare or critical systems would be well received
  • Familiarity with relevant software including Amtech Prodesign, IES Virtual Environment, Revit, AutoCAD and Dialux/Relux

The Business

Founded around a decade ago and grown to approximately 20 staff, this consultancy has established itself as a serious player in the Bristol building services market. Sustainability sits at the heart of what they do – not as a bolt–on service but baked into the way they approach every project. With a strong pipeline of work and further growth planned, this is a well–timed opportunity to join a team on an upward curve. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience. The role is based in Bristol city centre with flexible working available.
