CIBSE (the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) is the professional body that exists to advance and promote the art, science and practice of building services engineering, to invest in education and research, and to support our community of built environment professionals in their pursuit of excellence. About the role
CIBSE is looking for a dynamic Head of Training (HOT). The Institution is a charity which plays a critical role in a growing and changing built environment sector. We are currently expanding and diversifying to support our strategic goals to improve performance and safety, health, sustainability and achieve net zero carbon in the built environment. This is an exciting time to join CIBSE, which is undergoing modernisation in its internal processes and culture. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow and develop an already flourishing training business. Training members and non-members is a key pillar of CIBSE’s mission to support the science, art and practice of building services.
What you will do
To lead the training team in delivering market leading training courses, developing new ones and ensuring the profession are kept up to date with information that enables them to keep up to date and relevant. The successful candidate will join the management team that are driving change in knowledge, training and events across building services and the wider built environment.
Key responsibilities
- Create a pipeline of new opportunities.
- Build a network of professional trainers to deliver market leading content.
- Ensure CIBSE remains at the forefront of training delivery.
- Oversee a growing online training business.
- Manage a team of motivated and engaged professionals keen to develop their roles in CIBSE.
- Work with the CIBSE Services team to develop a long-term strategy.
- Build a customer focussed culture with appropriate feedback mechanisms.
- Deliver financial results in line with budget and 5-year plan.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Three years’ experience of both face to face and online training.
- Financial Management – managing budgets and forecasting.
- Communication skills: The skill to impart information and training to stakeholders, internal staff, trainers, delegates and the wider CIBSE team.
- Decision‑making skills: The ability to determine which training programs to focus on to deliver on our key objectives.
- Leadership skills: The ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Collaboration skills: You'll be working with a wide range of stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds – academics, experts and engineers to name a few.
- IT literacy – To work across our systems and processes.
- Knowledge of the construction sector.
- Working with an Institute, Institution or Association to deliver training.
- Presentation skills – presenting to boards/ senior groups.
- International Experience – delivering global training programs.
