JOB DESCRIPTION: Electrical Design Engineer – Industrial Machinery, Manufacturing
As our Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing electrical and pneumatic control systems for bespoke automation machinery, taking projects from concept through to successful customer acceptance. Your day–to–day will include:
- Meeting with customers and the sales team to understand project requirements
- Developing electrical system architecture and control designs
- Specifying industrial control components including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, robots, VSDs and more
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring schedules and complete technical documentation
- Creating parts lists, safety requirement specifications, risk assessments and CE documentation
- Working closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
- Supporting manufacturing during assembly and testing
- Attending Factory and Site Acceptance Tests with customers
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Electrical Design Engineer – Industrial Machinery, Manufacturing
We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with creative problem–solving. You’ll ideally have:
- Experience designing industrial electrical or control systems
- A solid understanding of electrical and pneumatic design
- Knowledge of UL508A Industrial Control Panels
- Experience using Sistema or Pilz safety software
- Familiarity with EPLAN (or similar electrical design software)
- Knowledge of PLC and automation hardware from manufacturers such as Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Mitsubishi or B&R
- An understanding of machinery safety standards including BS EN and ISO13849
- A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Design
