A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to strengthen its Building Services (MEP) team with an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer. The business works with both private and public sector clients, delivering sustainable engineering solutions across property, infrastructure, environment and energy. You'll join a collaborative multidisciplinary team working on a diverse range of projects, with a strong focus on technical excellence, sustainability and professional development.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, coordination and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with mechanical engineers, BIM technicians, architects and other design professionals, you'll take responsibility for electrical design delivery while also supporting junior members of the team.
- Leading the design and delivery of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms and data systems
- Producing electrical design calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
- Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, public health, structural and architectural disciplines
- Supporting projects through all stages from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements, including BS 7671
- Working within a BIM environment and collaborating with technicians using Autodesk Revit
- Attending client and design team meetings and representing the electrical discipline
- Contributing to sustainable and low–carbon design solutions
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Assisting with project planning, resource management and programme delivery
- Managing design work to agreed timescales, quality standards and budgets
- Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teams
Requirements:
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Proven experience in electrical building services design within an MEP consultancy environment
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems
- Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards, including BS 7671
- Experience delivering projects across multiple design stages
- Ability to manage design packages independently while working effectively within a wider team
- Strong communication and client–facing skills
- Good organisational and project management abilities
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment
Desirable experience includes:
- Chartered status or working towards CEng through CIBSE, IET or another relevant professional body
- Experience using Autodesk Revit and BIM coordination tools
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low–carbon technologies
- Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
