A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing building services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to work on technically challenging projects across sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector developments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers and developing strong client relationships within a collaborative engineering environment.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Lead the mechanical engineering design delivery on selected projects
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Manage mechanical design elements from concept through to completion
- Produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation
- Carry out engineering calculations and support technical reviews
- Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
- Maintain and improve technical standards within the engineering team
- Contribute to innovative, sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions
Requirements:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3–4 years' post–qualification experience within building services design
- Strong experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within a consultancy environment
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance
- Experience using design software such as:
- oRevit
- oRelux / Dialux
- oAmtech or equivalent engineering software
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies
- Experience working with BREEAM requirements would be advantageous
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
- CIBSE / IMechE membership
- Experience working on complex projects across multiple sectors
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles would be beneficial
