Job Purpose
The role is responsible for providing technical expertise and advisory services for large, technically complex projects to identify and analyze client solutions that enhance multiple enterprise applications with major impact on business strategy.
The role collaborates with and advises senior management, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to determine client requirements, evaluate proposals and recommend changes.
It provides technical leadership and consults with project teams and other technology groups during design and development to ensure alignment with expectations and supports the successful adoption and deployment of new or enhanced systems.
The role focuses on optimizing resources, working with management to support departmental strategy and operational objectives, and driving technology changes in compliance with policies and procedures.
The role independently resolves ambiguous challenges with organization‑wide impacts on cost and efficiency, devising new methods using strong analytical and inductive thinking.
- Key Accountabilities
- Research and second‑level support on client, technical, and system/web site outages and questions for all internal and external applications; prioritize and address issues for CIBC technology groups and vendors.
- Maintain production applications and day‑to‑day operational activities; manage escalations and modify established procedures to suit specific situations, including 24/7 support and coordination of recovery efforts for end‑to‑end FICC and e FX applications.
- Investigate and define operational issues, prioritizing based on severity, risk, and strategic business needs; manage issue logs and client/user requests; design and implement solutions to prevent recurrence and ensure client/user satisfaction.
- Serve as a liaison with business partners, technology partners, senior management, internal and external clients; keep internal clients informed of team mandate, policies, and legislative changes; promote and support the concepts, products, and services of the support area.
- Identify and resolve small, medium, and critical complex production problems; monitor and analyze supported services to identify improvement opportunities; recommend permanent solutions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop and manage execution of implementation plans for high to critical complex new applications and maintenance updates.
- Compliance Requirements & Responsibilities
As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
- Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in application or infrastructure (OS & hardware) support, network, databases, security, and message delivery systems in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Knowledge of shell scripting, SQL, Python, and logfile data mining is an asset.
- Capital Markets experience is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building abilities.
- Detail‑oriented, digitally savvy, and adaptable to evolving technologies.

- Working Conditions
This role operates within a normal office environment. CIBC provides a hybrid work arrangement; employees may work 3-4 days per week on site and the remaining days remotely.
