As an Executive Director, Capital Markets Finance, Europe and APAC Region, you will provide high-quality reporting and advisory support to the Europe and APAC Region management team on financial and business performance, planning and forecasting. This includes reporting and analysis of financial resources (e.g., revenue, expense, leverage, assets, liabilities, and FTE), performing/providing insights to Actual vs. Plan and DFE vs. GL variance analysis, and assessing financial performance to develop financial plans for initiatives. The applicant will also be responsible for coordinating the financial strategic and business plan for the Europe and APAC Region at the legal entity level.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Reporting & Analysis – Review daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial results and provide high-quality, insightful, and timely analysis of financial performance for Europe & APAC Capital Markets businesses. Provide continual insight and support the effective management of Balance Sheet, Funding/Liquidity, and Capital Resources (RWA, Leverage, and Economic Capital). Ensure that reporting and analysis keep pace with the changing business and environment.
  • Planning and Forecasting – Lead and coordinate the development of the financial strategic and business plans for Capital Markets in Europe & APAC regions. Work closely with business heads, Risk and Capital Management, CIBC Infrastructure partners, and various governance groups to ensure reasonableness of market assumptions and the impact of expected regulatory changes to ensure successful execution. Coordinate with the CFO(s) of various legal entities and ensure the alignment and integration of management region and legal entities plans and forecasts.
  • Business Initiatives & Decision Support – Partner with business leaders and the Capital Markets CFO team to provide timely, fact-based insights and sound financial advice on strategic and tactical initiatives and projects, including assessing trade-offs, impacts, and implications for balance sheet, funding/liquidity, and capital usage. Assume a leadership role on complex projects and analytical initiatives that support the business objectives.
  • Senior Management Communication – Provide clear, concise updates to senior management on financial performance, key business drivers and emerging trends; translate complex results into actionable insights and recommendations to support timely decision-making.
  • People Management – Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.

  • You have proven expertise and detailed knowledge of capital market products, good understanding of IFRS 9, Basel regulatory framework, solid understanding of Capital Markets funding processes and FTP rules, strong financial accounting knowledge and the ability to comprehend complex accounting issues and summarise them for business leaders.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, judgment and change-implementation capabilities.
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with the business leaders as well as peers in Risk Management, Treasury and other areas of Finance.
