What You\’ll Be Doing
The successful applicant will provide business management support to Europe Corporate Banking, Europe Transaction Banking and Europe Investment Banking. The role will act as a liaison between the businesses (front office) and the rest of the Bank to ensure all business strategies, initiatives, projects, and operational issues are addressed and resolved.
How You\’ll Succeed
Strategic & Business Planning:
- Support and contribute to strategic and business planning, supporting Head of CB and Head of IB.
- Partner with infrastructure groups to implement/execute strategic and business plans; and
- Project manage new initiatives, including, Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs).
- Work with other Business Managers and Finance Business Support to develop:
- Senior Management Presentations
- Presentations for town halls, onsite/offsite conferences
- Ad-hoc presentations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work alongside the business, including senior management, on a day-to-day basis.
Governance & Compliance :
- Lead/Oversee governance and compliance functions/issues on behalf of the CB / IB and GTB businesses, including:
- Drafting and ensuring compliance with Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) with respect to new initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with governance processes including TPRA\’s, RCSA\’s, BCM
- Support execution of new contracts and agreements with vendors and partners in collaboration with Corporate Services, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
- Accountable to ensure the completion of all GCB and GTB governance functions -User System Access, Contract Review, etc.
- Support business leaders, front office and internal partners in the implementation of new compliance and governance requirements.
- Management, oversight of audits and related follow-up items including coordinating and responding to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports.
- Working with Capital Markets Governance & Control teams to ensure suitable and effective controls are in place and help manage and support the coordination of the deficiency management process across CB, IB and GTB.
- Accountable to ensure the completion and accuracy of all CB, IB and GTB Policy & Procedure documents.
- Support Supervision and Controls on any compliance, regulatory, or related issues, as requested; and
- Develop and implement improvements to internal procedures and practices. Specifically ensure effective and documented internal controls are in place and evidenced by policies and procedures specific to the individual business activities.
Finance/MIS:
- Work with business, Business Managers and/or Finance Business Support to develop:
- Management and Board Presentations.
- Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboard and analysis; and
- Other presentations.
Cross-Functional Relationships:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing the incumbent to work alongside the business, including Head of CB and Head IB, on a day-to-day basis.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with partners in CIBC, including Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal and Compliance and other corporate governance groups as required to help address and resolve day-to-day issues as well as deliver on business initiatives; and
- Maintain regular dialogue with regional business managers and their teams as required on global initiatives and issues.
Authorities/Decision Rights:
- As a manager of people, this job has the authority to assign tasks to employees within their span of control, select individuals for hire, assess individual performance, make employee compensation decisions and take disciplinary measures up to and including termination.
- This position must protect and maintain confidentiality of information and initiatives.
- As a key contributor to the business unit this position has the authority to change business processes in order to enhance operation efficiency and effectiveness
Who You Are

- Education You\’ve Completed. Equivalent to University degree in Business Management/accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA. CFA, MBA) is preferred.
- Industry Experience. Strong knowledge of Financial Products (products and processes) with a minimum of 5-7 years of working experience in Capital Markets, in particular Global Corporate Banking and/or Global Investment Banking; Project management skills would be an asset.
- Communication . Able to very quickly acquire knowledge, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the maintenance of internal processes and client relationships. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Technical . Excellent working knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
- Detail Oriented. Excellent analytical and conceptual skills. Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on simultaneous projects.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and take ownership.
