What You\’ll Be Doing
As a leader in trade execution, CIBC\’s Global Equities Execution Trading Group provides clients with a range of trading products and services. The Associate, Execution Services will be responsible for:
- Providing coverage for CIBC\’s execution clients
- Completing trading assignments and supporting overnight electronic trading activities
- Identifying and implementing ongoing process improvements
How You\’ll Succeed
In this role you will:
- Collaborate as a member of the trading desk to support clients, assist with client requests, and conduct day-to-day trading and settlement activities for institutional and retail clients in international markets, as well as support overnight activities in North American markets.
- Provide support for both low-touch and high-touch client activities during European market hours.
- Liaise with various groups (middle office, back office, technology, clients) to resolve technical and settlement issues.
- Assist in client reporting, trade reconciliation, and technology troubleshooting.
- Work to improve existing processes by implementing technology solutions to optimize trading operations.
- Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company and regulatory standards, policies, and practices.
- Provide value-added consulting to management, including the development and maintenance of trading systems and processes.
- Develop innovative approaches and solutions to various business issues and concerns, modifying general procedures to yield better results and increase efficiency.
- Manage intermediate internal and external relationships with business units and client groups to promote acceptance and implementation of new, revised, and unique products, programs, and services while managing resistance to change.
- Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to work alongside management and other business areas regularly.
Who You Are
You possess:
- The ability to work hours that cover the European market and support overnight North American market activities.
- A minimum of 3 years of trading experience in equities and/or derivatives (futures/options).
- Knowledge of market structure (an asset).
- Experience with software/programming languages, including some or all of VBA and SQL.
- A university degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science (preferred).
- Familiarity with algorithmic trading strategies and smart order routing systems (an asset).
- A good understanding of statistics and finance.
- Experience in database maintenance and development (SQL Server experience).
- A proactive, motivated, detail-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently.
- Superior problem-solving, analytical, judgment, and change implementation capabilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for interactions with all management levels within the Bank.
- A self-starter mentality, capable of taking ownership of tasks.
- The ability to manage deadlines while balancing multiple complex priorities.
- Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail.
