Our relationship management teams ensure that our clients have access to all of our product lines across the globe.
Job Purpose: The Associate, STIR Trader is a professional responsible for providing a broad range of analytical and research support to the team, assisting with projects such as pricing, booking of deals, and daily funding of specific departments. The role utilizes diverse methods and skills to contribute to department planning, connecting people and networks, and drawing on the Bank’s broader team and supporting our community. The Associate, STIR Trader makes decisions on moderately complex issues, exercising independent judgement to make recommendations to management on improved approaches to accomplish objectives. The role supports client relations by providing access and colour to various STIR markets.
Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute towards maintaining and helping to grow the STIR business in London, focusing on European currency pairs.
- Build and maintain a close relationship with the sales desk.
- Assist the senior traders within the STIR team with risk management and administrative tasks.
- Be part of the global STIR team and establish a close working relationship with relevant peers within the London, Hong Kong and Toronto businesses.
- Keep up to date with market developments and communicate these insights in a timely fashion.
- Carry out administrative tasks as and when required to ensure smooth continuance of business.
Authorities/Compliance Requirements: As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Some knowledge of FX and interest rate products.
- An eagerness to learn and understand risk management, liquidity provision, pricing risk, managing client flow and interaction with clients.
- Ambitious individual who desires to be part of a small, yet dynamic team and has the drive to embrace a steep learning curve.
- Possess the ability to embrace the necessary responsibilities and develop the skills to become a profitable trader making significant contributions to the desk and business as a whole.
- This is an entry-level trading role ideally suitable for a candidate with up to 2 years of trading experience or equivalent thereof.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
