Our key services include risk assessments, solution design, supply and installation, commissioning, and system maintenance. We offer comprehensive electronic security systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and fire detection systems. CIA 2000 Ltd is SSAIB Certified and holds several accreditations including ECA, CHAS, Safe Contractor Plus. This is a full-time on-site role for a Fire & Security Engineer. The Fire & Security Engineer will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining a range of security and fire systems. Daily tasks involve working with intruder alarms, fire detection systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, nurse call, CCTV systems and access control to ensure safety and security compliance. The role demands high levels of technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and customer service to maintain our standards of service excellence. You will be working across various client sites to ensure that their systems are fully operational and compliant with industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, maintenance, and servicing of fire and security systems (fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, etc.).
- Conducting system inspections, testing, and repairs as required.
- Responding to service calls and providing technical support to customers.
- Ensuring systems meet current safety standards and regulations.
- Providing training and guidance to clients on the use of their systems.
- Completing accurate documentation and reports on service activities.
- Working collaboratively with the team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- On call callout rota.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in the fire and security industry (minimum of 5 years).
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and other security systems.
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and codes (e.g., BS5839, EN50131).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and customer-focused attitude.
- Valid driver’s license (for travel to client sites).
- Experienced in a range of disciplines (Fire Alarms, CCTV, Access Control, & Intruder Alarms, Emergency Lighting). Previous experience within all of these areas is preferred although not essential.
- IPAF, ECS, CSCS cards would also be beneficial.
- Take a pro-active approach to client liaison and ensure that concerns are dealt with or relayed to management as necessary.
- Be able to pass an enhanced DBS.
- Be prepared to travel outside the northwest.
Qualifications:
- Strong skills in Network Security and Cybersecurity.
- Experience in Application Security, Security Engineering, and Information Security.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage on-site responsibilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications or relevant experience in fire and security systems are a plus.
- Formal training is beneficial.
- Knowledge of SSAIB, ECA, CHAS, Safe Contractor standards is an advantage.
- Experience working with industry-leading manufacturers and systems.
- Additional security system certifications (e.g., CCTV, access control, etc.).
- Relevant qualifications such as FIA, BAFE, or other industry certifications (desirable).
