Churchmere is looking for a GP who wants to join a close-knit, ambitious practice. Whether you're looking for a salaried post or a partnership, we're genuinely open to both. People know each other here. GPs eat lunch together. The partners' door is open. But we're also ambitious - about what General Practice can look like, about our role in the PCN, and about investing in the kind of team that makes this work sustainable long-term.
That investment means you'll have clinical pharmacists, paramedics, mental health nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a dietitian around you, alongside a large and experienced nursing team - so your time goes on the clinical work that needs a GP. We're early adopters of technology that supports the role, and we take that seriously. Admin is light by design. You'll have the autonomy to practise in a way that reflects who you are as a clinician. This is a role for a GP who is ready to be valued.
Main duties of the job
- You'll be seeing patients and building relationships.
- You'll have daily clinical coffee breaks and structured peer support - time set aside each morning to discuss cases, share decisions, and stay connected as a team.
- We accommodate a range of special interests and will do our best to support yours.
- We offer a range of enhanced services and are open to developing new ones around the right person.
- You'll take part in our educational programme, contribute to GP training, and engage with PCN and system-level work if that's where your interest lies.
About us
We're a dispensing practice with around 21,300 patients across two sites, Whitchurch and Ellesmere. We have a brand new surgery building in Whitchurch, a Good CQC rating, strong QOF, and we've been a training practice for many years. What makes us worth joining isn't the list of achievements, but how the practice actually runs. Partners are present and involved, decisions are made quickly, and issues are dealt with properly. Our management team is proactive and reliable, and our wider PCN covering six practices and around 80,000 patients is something we actively help lead, with real ambition for primary care in North Shropshire.
We're recruiting because we're growing. Our list size is increasing and colleagues are reducing sessions, so we're looking to invest in someone long term, not a short-term fix. General practice is under pressure nationally, but we're in a stable position - financially secure, well-led, and clear about what we stand for. We back our clinicians and aim to protect quality of care and working life.
North Shropshire offers a semi-rural lifestyle with strong community ties. Whitchurch and Ellesmere are attractive market towns with good schools, and Chester, Wrexham, and Shrewsbury are all within easy reach. Sessions are flexible (48 depending on what works for you). We're open to salaried or partnership roles and will wait for the right person. Tier 2 visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
