Churchland Animal Hospital is seeking a Medical Director to lead our established, multi‑doctor small animal practice in Portsmouth, VA (Hampton Roads area).

Schedule & Experience

  • Full‑time, flexible 4‑5 day work week
  • No on‑call or emergency coverage
  • 3+ years of clinical experience preferred
  • Prior leadership experience a plus (but not required)
  • Virginia license required (or eligible)

You will partner closely with our experienced associate veterinarians and hospital leadership team to guide medical standards, mentor doctors, and help drive continued growth and excellence within the practice.

Leadership & Clinical Role Responsibilities

This is a working Medical Director position, allowing you to continue practicing medicine while shaping the hospital's medical direction. Responsibilities include:

  • Upholding and advancing standards of care
  • Mentoring and developing associate DVMs
  • Supporting case collaboration and medical decision‑making
  • Partnering on hospital growth initiatives and team development
