You’ll join a collaborative team and work with a broad range of technologies, making a real impact on the day-to-day experience of end users. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in delivering excellent service, and is confident supporting people both remotely and face to face.

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Support and maintain modern workplace technologies within a hybrid Microsoft environment.
  • Manage user accounts and devices across hybrid Active Directory and Entra ID environments.
  • Support and administer Microsoft Intune-managed devices and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Help maintain SharePoint environments, including user access, document libraries, and site administration.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, printer, and connectivity issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Configure and support laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities, including account setup, device provisioning, and access removal.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, asset records, and troubleshooting notes to support continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers and support partners, and contribute to IT projects, deployments, and office setups.
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service and communication in every interaction.

About you

It’s important to us that you’re passionate about technology and committed to delivering an excellent level of service to colleagues across the Group. You’ll be someone who enjoys helping others, takes ownership of issues, and brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to your work. Our ideal IT Field Technician will bring:

  • Previous experience in a field-based IT support, desktop support, or IT technician role, with hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, SharePoint, Hybrid Active Directory, and Entra ID.
  • Strong technical experience supporting Windows 11, macOS, and Microsoft server technologies.
  • A proven ability to support end users across multiple locations and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues both remotely and on site.
  • Experience with onboarding and offboarding processes, including account setup, device configuration, and user access management.
  • A good understanding of networking infrastructure, Wi-Fi, broadband, router configuration, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting printers and multifunction devices in a busy business environment.
  • A solid awareness of cybersecurity best practice and the importance of maintaining secure systems and user access.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and confidently to non-technical colleagues.
  • A proactive, organised, and customer-focused approach, with the confidence to work independently and manage travel between sites.

As a national company, some travel will be required in this role, so access to a vehicle and a valid UK driving licence are essential.

How to prepare for a job interview at Churchill Retirement

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
