Job title: Crane Driver / Tower Crane Driver Location: Saffron Walden, CB11 3HY Hours: 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime opportunities Package: Permanent opportunity, competitive salary and company benefits About the role We are recruiting for an experienced Crane Driver to work at our new development in Saffron Walden, Essex. As the Crane Driver, you will take responsibility for the safe lifting of equipment and building materials onsite, by the correct operation of the tower crane. The Crane Driver will follow the relevant regulations, legislation and manufacturer’s technical instructions, practicing safe working methods at all times, from pre-work checks through to the safe completion of works. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Crane Driver has a responsibility to conduct ongoing risk assessments to ascertain potential dangers, including the welfare of colleagues, contractors, visitors to site and pedestrians, keeping abreast of the impact of works happening on site and other safety issues or disturbances arising such as the impact of weather and swinging loads. In addition the Crane Driver will take responsibility for carrying out all the necessary maintenance and servicing checks of plant and equipment. Hours of work on site are 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime opportunities. This role is offered as a permanent opportunity and once the site is complete, there will be further developments in the pipeline to move on to, under the direction of the Construction Manager. About you You will demonstrate previous experience as a Tower Crane Driver and in possession of a valid tower crane driving licence, having undergone all of the appropriate training as advised in the HSE guidance note GS 39. Due to the nature of the role you’ll need to have in depth knowledge of the HSE Act 1974, Construction (lifting operations) Regulations of 1961, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 and Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations 1996. You’ll have knowledge of the duties of the Slinger/Banksman and will understand the recognised code of manual signals. You should be able to judge distances, heights and clearances accurately and be able to communicate in English to a high standard.
