We are recruiting for an experienced Banksman / Slinger / Lifting Supervisor to work at our new development in Aldridge, West Midlands. The Banksman / Slinger takes responsibility for attaching and detaching loads, lifting, transferring and positioning loads using a variety of slings, cranes and lifting apparatus, whilst adhering to health and safety legislation.
The Banksman / Slinger will examine each item of equipment before it is used for safety reasons, ensuring that we conform with technical specifications, regulations and legislation. In addition, the Banksman / Slinger will be aware of other hazards and dangers within the workspace, adopting sound safety procedures at all times. Teamwork and communication are important as you will take responsibility for notifying the Site Manager of any faults and provide clear and correct signals to the Crane Driver and other site colleagues to ensure the safe lifting and manoeuvre of materials.
Hours of work on site are 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime opportunities. This role is offered as a permanent opportunity and once the site is complete, there will be further developments in the pipeline to move on to, under the direction of the Construction Manager.
You will demonstrate previous experience as a Banksman / Slinger / Lifting Supervisor working on busy construction sites, with a certification in Banksman / Slinger operations. Due to the nature of the role you will need to have in depth knowledge of the HSE Act 1974, Construction (lifting operations) Regulations of 1961, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.
You will be personable, with good teamworking skills and able to communicate using a high standard of spoken English.
