Independent Cleaning Services are one of Hull and East Yorkshire’s largest cleaning companies, providing a wide range of services to Hull and the surrounding areas. We are looking to strengthen our team and are seeking an Area Cleaning Supervisor to join us.
Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Cleaning Supervisor to join our team. In this role, your primary base will be a large secondary school in the Wakefield area, where you will oversee day-to-day cleaning operations and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained at all times.
Over time, you will also support and assist other sites across the Wakefield and Leeds areas, providing additional leadership, guidance, and operational support as needed. The role will include hands-on cleaning duties when required and will involve AM and PM shifts.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, support, and motivate cleaning teams on-site at the secondary school and other allocated sites.
- Provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to team members.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met and maintained.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper usage.
- Coordinate with site managers and clients to address specific cleaning requirements and maintain excellent client relationships.
- Handle and resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding new cleaning staff when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, including timesheets and inventory management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cleaning Supervisor or in a similar supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
- Proficient in the use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Flexibility to work split shifts (mornings and evenings) and travel to different sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising cleaning services in an educational or large-scale facility.
- Experience in a mobile or multi-site supervising role.
Additional Information
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week, currently 6-8am and 3.30 – 6.30pm covering mornings and evenings is in operation.
- Applicants must have a reliable car and hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
- Uniform and equipment provided, along with full and detailed practical training.
- Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour. Car and fuel allowance is paid at a competitive rate when overseeing contracts not based at the main site.
