About the role
As our new Caretaker, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference every day to the lives of residents by ensuring that the grounds of the estate are kept pristine and free from any health and safety hazards. The Caretaker will report to the Estate Manager on site but will have the freedom to work autonomously. The role is exciting and varied with responsibility for the management and upkeep of the grounds and the maintenance of the external façade of the buildings. The Caretaker is instrumental in helping to manage the internal communal amenities within the buildings, including planning and preparing for events (whether that be one off events, or seasonal events such as Christmas) and clearing away. In addition, the Caretaker is the go-to person for all things facilities related. This could include managing and resolving an issue yourself or liaising with the appropriate parties to ensure a timely resolution to an issue.
About you
As the new Caretaker, working on site from the initial opening, you will have the opportunity to shape the role, and your passion for excellent customer service is vital. With the focus on providing a happy and fulfilling lifestyle for the owners and tenants, you will have an outgoing and friendly personality and be able to demonstrate a keen interest in working with customers and stakeholders. The Caretaker is a key member of a small Estate Management team based on site and will play a vital role in representing our Company. You will be confident in establishing professional and effective working relationships as this role involves working on a daily basis with a number of different stakeholders including residents, contractors, and sales and operational staff from Wates development company and London Borough of Havering. Ideally you will have previous experience as a Caretaker or similar role, or a trades background. You will have a general understanding of Health and Safety requirements in a facilities and grounds maintenance environment and be familiar with risk management processes. You must be competent in using modern technologies to help monitor and keep records of the reporting and resolution of issues. You will be dependable, trustworthy, and indiscriminate in your approach to all walks of life, with a great awareness of confidentiality.
