We are seeking a capable and people-focused Operations Manager to join our staff team at Southport – Church of Christ. This role exists to support the Ministry Team Leader by providing wise oversight of the church’s operational life, including finance, administration, facilities, compliance, and staff systems. It is a key leadership role that helps ensure our structures serve the mission of the church. The Operations Manager works closely with staff, volunteers, and governance leaders to help SCC function with clarity, integrity, and sustainability.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Finance
- Oversee church finances, budgeting, reporting, and yearly audit
- Work closely with the bookkeeper, finance team, and governance team
- Ensure responsible oversight of building projects and expenditure
- People & HR
- Oversee payroll and HR processes
- Support recruitment, performance management, wellbeing, and compliance
- Work alongside the Ministry Team Leader in staff leadership and care
- Facilities & Operations
- Oversee facility maintenance, upgrades, and ministry partnerships
- Provide leadership and oversight of administrative staff and key operational roles
- Ensure effective systems for IT, communications, venue hire, counselling services, and contracts
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure the church meets all regulatory and compliance obligations
- Prepare and present reports to governance and advisory groups
- Participate in executive leadership and planning
