We are seeking to employ an inspirational and forward-thinking Physics specialist to join our thriving Science Department. The appointment provides the opportunity to teach well-motivated, hard-working and high achieving pupils at KS 3, 4 and 5. The post would suit either a recently qualified graduate (full ECT induction is available) or a more experienced teacher looking to develop his/her career in a leading independent school.

All pupils study the main three sciences separately through to GCSE. Almost all pupils prepare for the higher tier papers.

In years 1 & 2 (NC years 7 & 8) Churcher’s has developed its own Physics course which follows the requirements for Key Stage 3 but attempts to stretch our pupils further. This course is regularly reviewed and updated and the teacher appointed would be involved in this process.

Qualities and Experience Applicants should have:

  • the ability to enthuse and inspire children in Physics and deliver in an ordered and imaginative way to pupils throughout the school including A Level.
  • the ability to teach Chemistry or Biology to Key Stage 3 is desirable but not essential.
  • a practical approach to lessons, encouraging thought, method, analysis, conclusion and evaluation
  • a dynamic and Innovative approach to teaching Physics
  • the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly.
  • adaptability to a variety of teaching situations.
  • good judgement in assessing work and pupils.
  • decisiveness in classroom control.
  • a lively and enthusiastic approach.
  • good personal administration.
  • ability to develop projects within the department
