Church View Children's Place is a brand-new, purpose-built children's home providing specialist care for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, sensory needs, and moderate to severe challenging behaviour. Our state-of-the-art home offers a safe, nurturing, and happy environment where every child is supported to grow, develop, and thrive.

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home. This is a key leadership position, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and staff development.
Working Pattern
- 40 hours per week
- Weekday shifts typically 9:00 am – 5:00 pm – however these may need to change to meet the needs of the service
- The deputy manager will be expected to cover short falls in staffing if required, on the rare occasions sleep ins may be required
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Leadership Duties- Oversee a large staff team and line manage Team Leaders
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Team Leaders and wider staff
- Ensure safe staffing levels and effective rota management at all times
- Maintain consistently high standards of care and safeguarding
- Write and review care plans, risk assessments, and meeting reports
- Support to the Registered Manager
- Assist with all aspects of home management and compliance, including:
- Ofsted inspections
- Quality assurance visits
- Ensure all staff training is up to date and compliant
- Lead and participate in children's meetings
- Confidently challenge external professionals, when necessary, in the best interests of the children
- Administer medication including controlled substances
- Undertake medication competency assessment on staff
- Safer recruitment/interviewing/shortlisting when required
- Inducting new starters alongside team leaders
- Work alongside the Team leaders to complete staff inductions and probation reviews
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
- Previous line management experience within a residential childcare setting, including staff supervision, rota planning, and performance management.
- Proven experience working with children or young people with Autism, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge in a residential environment.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding practices, child protection procedures, and safer recruitment principles.
- Demonstrable experience of applying safer recruitment practices within recruitment and selection processes.
- Good working knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and SCCIF framework.
- Experience addressing staff performance concerns, managing team dynamics, and dealing confidently with challenging situations.
- Ability to line manage staff effectively, maintaining professional boundaries and demonstrating clear leadership.
- Experience administering and overseeing medication in line with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Experience participating in, or the ability to undertake, on-call responsibilities on a rota basis.
- Experience using electronic care management systems (or the ability to quickly learn new systems).
- Strong IT, organisational, and administrative skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to support Team Leaders to ensure staff inductions and probation reviews are completed within required timeframes.
- Responsibility for monitoring staff training compliance and ensuring mandatory training remains up to date.
- Ability to maintain professionalism at all times, building positive working relationships while maintaining clear management boundaries.
- Ability to take direction from the Registered Manager and contribute positively to a collaborative leadership team.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Calm, resilient, and solution-focused approach.
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training.
- Experience holding on-call responsibilities.
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
