Approx 28 hrs/week (by agreement) Flexible employer The Red Trust Bushey (RTB) is a local Christian charity, which has a presence in and around the Little Reddings/Moatfield area of Bushey, Hertfordshire. Our vision is ‘to stand in the gap’ for those who find themselves marginalised. We want to reach those who are on the edges of community and church so that they can have access to friendly, hospitable spaces where our community can meet, connect and help each other. Currently, our key projects are the community café and the food bank.

We are looking for a new community worker/pioneer, lay or ordained, to lead the work of RTB into its next stage of development. This role will build on the work of our existing Pioneer worker, working alongside a fantastic team of part‑time staff, with strong community links already established. Ideally the individual needs to be a self‑starter, who can embrace our vision and innovatively take this work forward as part of a wider RTB team. This is a flexible post, scoped initially for approximately 28 hours a week, with potential for full time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the way in growing vibrant community engagement, building on what’s already in place while developing innovative new pathways to connect with residents.
  • Through relationships, developed in community groups, to become a familiar and trusted face.
  • To share the Christian faith through words and action, allowing people to address life issues and explore spirituality.
  • To work in partnership with, and to complement and support, existing networks and agencies in the community.
  • To support the existing work of the foodbank and café projects and promote their development.
  • To develop, equip and nurture others who can share our vision.

If you feel you can share our vision, and have the enthusiasm to undertake this role, we’d love to hear from you!

Salary circa £36.400K (dependent on experience)
