Interim Post: Priest in charge, in the United Benefice of Holy Trinity, Bridgwater and Saint Hugh’s, Durleigh. Holy Trinity Church is a Magnificat church on the southern side of Bridgwater, built in the early 1960’s whereas St. Hugh’s was built in the 12th Century. Bridgwater is known as the Gateway to the Quantock Hills, a designated area of outstanding beauty and is rich in history.

We are looking for a Priest in charge who is:

  • Experienced, passionate and faithful in prayer and commitment to ministry among us
  • Willing to work with the existing congregations
  • Willing to value and cherish the people and resources we already have
  • Able and willing to be a visible presence in our two churches and communities and develop those relationships
  • At ease with all generations
  • Motivated to encourage a younger congregation linked to Sunday School

We can offer:

  • Faithful but small congregations who are:
    • Accustomed to regular parish communion and mid-week said communion at Holy Trinity
    • Engage with morning prayer via Zoom
    • Keen and excited to see the Churches grow
    • Well known for their open and warm welcome to all comers
  • A small team linking with local schools in Open the Book
  • Two churches in a Joint PCC
  • A benefice administrator
  • A modern, spacious, four bedroom Vicarage away from the church building
  • A well-used Church hall with regular users including uniformed groups

This is an interim post where, in the light of work done with the new postholder, we would look after three years to either be appointing a full-time incumbent or seeing the parishes join with others in the area.
