An exciting opportunity for a priest who has a good understanding of rural communities and a heart for pastoral ministry. This post combines the role of Rector of the Chirbury Hills Benefice with additional responsibilities as a Rural Chaplain with the ecumenical Borderlands Rural Chaplaincy, primarily across South Shropshire.
Responsibilities

Rural Chaplain Responsibilities
- Offer pastoral support to farmers, including young farmers, farming families, agricultural communities and ancillary services
- Have a passionate heart and a commitment to the land‑based community
- Be part of the Ecumenical chaplaincy team
- Be deployable outside of the Benefice boundaries when engaged in chaplaincy work – primarily across South Shropshire
Qualifications and Practicalities
- The ability to travel independently and efficiently on country roads is essential.
- A full, clean, driving licence and access to own car is desirable.
- All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre‑appointment checks, including Enhanced DBS with Barred Lists clearance.
