Vicar of St James Porchester

Could God be calling you to lead a welcoming church with energy, vision and significant potential for growth?

St James Porchester is seeking a new Vicar to lead our committed congregation into the next chapter of its life and mission. With strong lay leadership, thriving community connections, growing work with children and families, and a heart for prayer and discipleship, we are excited about the future.

We are looking for a vicar who will:

  • inspire worship that is rooted in prayer and Scripture and accessible to all ages;
  • help us grow, particularly among children, young people, younger adults and those under 45;
  • build relationships across the parish, including its expanding new housing developments;
  • deepen discipleship and help people grow in confidence, prayer and faith;
  • offer wise, courageous and compassionate leadership through change; and
  • nurture and release the gifts of lay and ministry leaders within a shared culture of service.

We offer strong foundations and significant potential for growth: a blended pattern of worship, thriving toddler groups, Messy Church, links with local schools and community organisations, flexible church and centre buildings, and a committed network of lay leaders, Readers, retired clergy, ministry teams and an Office Administrator.

Our parish includes parts of Mapperley, Carlton and Gedling, bringing together a growing suburban community close to Nottingham city centre and the surrounding countryside.

Come and help us write God's next chapter at St James Porchester.

For an informal conversation, contact Revd Canon Dr Richard Kellett, Associate Archdeacon at richard.kellett@southwell.anglican.org.

Advert closes – 17th November

Interview Dates – 2nd & 3rd December
