Families Mission Minister – Ascension Balham
Ascension Balham is a thriving Anglican church in South West London, passionate about spreading the love of God to Balham and beyond. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative and relational Families Mission Minister to help children and families encounter Jesus, grow in faith and discover what it means to follow him in everyday life.
Hundreds of children and families come through our doors every week, many with little or no connection to church. From our busy Community Hub and café to toddler groups, Parish Play, Puppet Praise and Bubble Church, we have an exciting opportunity to build relationships, share the gospel and help families take their next steps in faith.
This is about more than running great children’s programmes. We want someone who loves connecting with families, is confident sharing their faith and sees the potential for mission in everyday conversations. You’ll help families explore faith, develop creative pathways into discipleship and equip parents and carers to nurture their children’s faith at home.
You’ll also lead outstanding Sunday children’s ministry, oversee all-age worship and children’s discipleship activities, and provide pastoral support to families. A key part of the role will be identifying, inspiring and equipping volunteers, developing leaders and building teams that can grow and sustain excellent ministry.
We’re looking for an experienced ministry leader who combines a passion for evangelism and family discipleship with excellent communication skills, biblical creativity and a pioneering spirit. You’ll be someone who builds relationships naturally, takes initiative, develops others and is excited about helping families follow Jesus seven days a week.
The post is open to ordained clergy and qualified lay applicants who are practising Christians and fully sympathetic to the aims and ethos of the Church of England.
Closing date: Monday 30 November, midnight
Interviews: 7 and 8 December at Ascension Balham
