Church Lane Surgery is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care for our patients in Brighouse. We have approximately 11,100 patients and our Practice team provides a full range of Primary Care Services. We are a training Practice for GP Registrars, FY2 doctors, Apprentice Pharmacy Technicians and medical students. Our Practice has an overall CQC rating of good. We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly Practice Team. This is a part-time position - 30 hours per week.

- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Church Lane Surgery is a very friendly, well-established and reputable GP Practice located in Brighouse. Although independent, we work well with the other 4 Practices in the Lower Valley PCN. Our multi-disciplinary team comprises of GPs, Clinical Pharmacist, APs, Practice Nurses and HCAs, who are supported by a fantastic team of Receptionists and Administrators. We are honest, open and welcome new suggestions and ideas from staff. In a nutshell, it's a really nice place to work.
Job responsibilities
- Providing screening and monitoring services for the patient population
- New patient health checks
- ECG recording
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
- Dressings
- Ear Syringing
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
- Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Person Specification
Qualifications
- NQV Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Phlebotomy accredited, Ear Syringing accredited and ECG testing accredited.
Experience
- Experience of working directly in a healthcare assistant role, adult health and social care, learning support or public health/health improvement.
- Experience of working within a GP Practice
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of Clinical Governance skill
- Health and Safety awareness
- Basic first aid knowledge
- Basic knowledge about blood borne diseases
