This role requires someone who is passionate about the possibilities infrastructure automation brings, can focus on the rapid delivery of improvement but also has the clarity of thought to ensure solutions are built to a high quality and will stand the test of time.
Responsibilities:

- Leverage industry‑standard automation tooling and practices in the development of business‑focused infrastructure automation solutions.
- Working alongside software development and testing teams to provide infrastructure automation development and support services as part of Digital Services Product Team.
- Optimise, monitor, maintain and improve all infrastructure automation services, delivering efficient, reliable and secure services that follow industry best practice.
- Contribute to the delivery of business projects involving new or updated infrastructure automation services, including working with both on‑premises and cloud‑based systems.
Skills:
- Exposure to/hands‑on experience of the following technologies is preferable but not essential: Scripting (PowerShell), Configuration management (DSC/Ansible), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Packer), Source Control (Git), Public Cloud (Azure).
- Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (eg developers/testers) using Agile techniques, focusing on the value stream.
- Strong real‑world experience developing and maintaining infrastructure‑as‑code automation solutions using industry‑standard tools (eg Packer, Terraform, Azure DevOps, CI/CD).
- Thorough understanding of the creation, modification and maintenance of scripts/modules/functions using popular scripting languages and source control systems (eg PowerShell, Git, Terraform).
- A strong team player who can easily switch focus between individual and collective objectives.
- Clear commitment to life‑long learning and the acquisition of new skills and abilities.
- Solid focus on quality, accuracy, reliability and integrity in everything you do.
- Self‑starter who is not afraid to take ownership of issues that may not necessarily sit within their direct sphere of control, focusing on the experience of the requester/customer.
- A desire to make things better, maintain an optimistic mindset through challenging situations and always look for opportunities to improve our services and processes.
