We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Church Farm at Skylarks in West Bridgford, Nottingham. This role is vital as part of the catering team, whose aim is to provide meals to a high standard, taking note of any special diets of the people living in the home. This role is a part-time position working 3 shifts per week, 8am - 6.30pm with a 60-minute unpaid break per shift (28.5 hours per week contract). There will be a requirement to work alternative weekends.
Responsibilities
- To ensure all food is prepared and served with highest regard to nutritional value and hygienic conditions under the direction of the Head Cook or Assistant Cook.
- To maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area to the highest standard, including cleaning and sanitising the kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchenware.
- Load and unload dishes into the dishwasher.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries and ensuring the store area is well organised.
- Ensure that any waste is kept to a minimum and assist with stock rotation.
- Assist with food serve during mealtimes.
- Remove kitchen waste from waste containers and disposing of them in the correct bins.
- To ensure that adequate food supplies are always available.
- To wear correct uniform always (uniform will be provided).
- To read and adhere to the Food Standards Agency guidance for catering in Health and Social Care.
- To maintain confidentiality regarding people living here.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a catering environment.
- Awareness of manual handling techniques.
- Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Organised, efficient and can work under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player.
