We are looking for a full-time Care Assistant to join our nursing home Church Farm at Skylarks, based in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire. This role will be as part of the day care team working three or four shifts per week from 8am to 8pm with a 60-minute unpaid break per shift. Each role will be contracted to work 38.5 hours per week, including the requirement to work alternate weekends.
Main Purpose of the role
- To be part of the support team, whose aims are to ensure that people's nursing, personal and psychological needs are met on a daily basis.
- To help promote as much personal and physical independence and choice as possible in the activities of daily living with the people living in the Nursing Home.
- To help maintain a stimulating and attractive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- To assist in the direct care provision of all aspects of each person's assessed needs.
- Assisting people with washing, dressing and undressing.
- Participating in the basic care of the residents under the supervision of trained staff e.g. bathing, pressure care, mouth care and eye care.
- Assisting the people living here with their continence needs.
- Keeping bedrooms tidy alongside the person.
- Assisting with people's mobility, including the use of mobility aids, where appropriate.
- Serving meals and drinks, assisting those residents who are unable to eat independently, ensuring that each person receives the meal or diet that he/she has chosen and is suitable for their needs.
- Helping with the admission of people moving to live in the home and supporting them to 'feel' at home.
Previous experience working in healthcare is desirable but not essential. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to care. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A positive attitude and willingness to learn. Reliable and trustworthy. Kind and have a genuine desire to help others.
