We have a new opportunity in our Casualty Claims team for a Senior Claims Handler
Ideally suited to candidates with previous casualty claims handling experience.
You will handle a portfolio of up to 200 casualty claims consisting of EL, PL products and possibly a small amount of motor. You will handle claims competently up to a value of $250,000 and claims with a higher value under referral. You will deal with policyholders and brokers on occasion to attend review meetings. You will deal with referrals from more junior handlers and the role includes participation in internal and external audit where required.
Key Responsibilities
- To handle Casualty/Liability claims up to $250,000 and others above this amount under some supervision
- To be able to accurately assess and evaluate legal and policy liability and to calculate reserve exposures, assess settlement values of personal injury and property claims.
- To be willing to undertake local claims investigations and reviews with policyholders and Brokers/Underwriters.
- To be able to negotiate with other professionals – Insurers, Brokers, Solicitors and third Parties by correspondene and telephone.
- To manage Client Relationships and take some responsibility for looking after key accounts.
- To participate in audits and reviews.
- To undertake all other duties as applicable to this role.
Qualifications
- ACII qualification advantageous but not essential
- Previous end to end claims handling experience
- Continues to develop technical and broader business skills.
- Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of specialist product line, the insurance market and competitors
- Solid experience in dealing with brokers and clients.
- Ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
- Handling of mid-range (claims valued up to £100,000)
- Experience in Employers, Public and Product Liability cases are preferred.
