We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to support our A&H Underwriting team and further your career in insurance.
Role PurposeYou will support the underwriting teams in our National Underwriting Centre in Manchester by delivering a high-quality client service, with the authority to make simple amendments to risks as specified in the underwriting guidelines and under the close supervision of an underwriter.
Key responsibilities- You will work in conjunction with the team to ensure efficient working practices are in place.
- Provide general assistance to underwriters for running & monitoring reports, broker access, mid-term transactions, account bookings, policy issuance, maintaining pipelines etc.
- Support the underwriting teams by assisting brokers via email and telephone, ensuring first-touch resolution wherever possible.
- You will work towards gaining underwriting authority, enabling you to manage renewals and mid-term adjustments, with the opportunity to underwrite new business in line with agreed underwriting guidelines, budget, and local business plans, and to cross-train in other product lines.
- Work within the framework of Chubb ethical and service standards.
- Previous experience of an insurance operation preferred but not essential.
- Minimum GCSE, but preferably A level standard (or equivalent).
- Microsoft Office.
- Practical and common-sense approach to dealing with differing situations and an ability to seek problems often against tight timeframes.
- Strong work ethic.
- Highly organised.
This is a hybrid working role with 3 days in the office 9-5pm (Once probation is completed).
