As part of the UKI team, you will promoteChubb’s capabilities andlead our business and growth ambitions across all key commercial lines and relationships in our ROI/NI region. This requires a passion for business development as well as broadknowledge and experience across commercial product lines.

You would also be responsible for property and casualty development underwriting in the ROI/NI region – acquiring and exercising your own authority in order to quote and bindnew business opportunities in-line with our appetite and best practices.

You will report to the Head of Distribution and the Property and Package Manager based in Dublin,and as part of our matrix structure,

Although the role isaligned to our regional hub in Dublin, your time would be apportioned between face-to-face engagement with sales and underwriting colleagues in Dublin, face-to-face business development with the NI broker panel as well as an element of flexible home working.You will be required to travel to fulfil your duties.

Our expectation of this position encompasses underwriting excellence, relationship management and an aptitude for negotiating and closing deals.

Key Responsibilities:

Broker management and oversight

  • Drive development and execution of business plans across a panel of NI strategic brokers, driving effective engagement including quarterly business reviews and reporting on key metrics.
  • Work with the Head of Distribution to effectivelydrive Chubb’s proposition and strategic initiatives across commercial lines to the NI broker panel.
  • Identify new broker agency opportunities in conjunction with the Head of Distribution and submit agency applications to Broker Appointment Committee as appropriate.
  • Review and actively manage all brokers with fee for service arrangements as well as recommendations for new contracts.
  • Engagement and reporting to management on strategy execution, financials and other key performance and portfolio metrics.
  • Gather market intelligence and communicate effectively with key stakeholders on trends as they relate to our business plan
  • Develop and exercise appropriate levels of property and casualty underwriting authority to quote and bind new property and casualty business taking in-line with underwriting guidelines and business plans.
  • Positive engagement with product line underwriting management as well as advanced technical underwriting and sales negotiate capabilities.
  • Ensure quality control within defined area of underwriting responsibility by participating in underwriting reviews and peer reviews.
  • Meet best practices in respect of underwriting and service delivery, timeframes for quoting, policy documentation and compliance.

Achievement of financial goals

  • Achieve the Northern Ireland new business, production and retention plans to achieve growth expectations in the Ireland region.
  • Management of your assigned brokers:
    • Develop a quality pipeline of adequate new and cross sell opportunities for key brokers and drive new business from qualified prospects.
    • Develop, communicate and facilitate achievement of target new business plans with key brokers
    • Manage key metrics such as growth, new business, submission activity through interrogation of key account data with key brokers
    • Support the achievement of required retention levels for all key product lines, acting as a key account manager for assigned accounts with involvement across product lines and the NUC.

Product Line and Support Function engagement

  • Work closely with all product lines to drive an aligned growth strategy across the region, keeping abreast of underwriting appetite and strategies.
  • Monitor production and other key operational metrics across key product lines/brokers to identify areas of under- performance and address them with agreed actions.
  • Interaction with various functions including operations, claims, global services, e-trade and NUC teams.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive commercial insurance experience,preferably withan insurer.
  • Comprehensive technical underwriting knowledge and experience on Commercial Property & Package business as well as a broad understanding of all core commercial insurance products.
  • Experience in strategic business development, sales and broker relationship management of an assigned broker panel, ideally including exposure to Salesforce.
  • Positive reputation as a dynamic business developer and good broker relationships.
  • Excellent communicator, strong negotiation skills and the ability to build good relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Degree/ACII desirable. Ideally minimum of A level education, but any business based qualifications would be attractive. Sales or marketing based qualifications could also be beneficial.
