We are currently recruiting an experienced Underwriter to form a key part of Chubb's Commercial Insurance Casualty Underwriting Team. The successful candidate will have experience in liability underwriting and will focus on new business development in the upper SME/lower middle-market segment. You will be responsible for new business underwriting and trading with broker partners, including pipelining, quoting, negotiating and writing new Casualty business. The role will be based in our Birmingham office and will cover our Midlands and South region.
This exciting role could suit either an existing Underwriter who is hungry, motivated, inquisitive and in need of a new challenge, or a similarly minded passionate individual currently working at assistant underwriter level, who feels ready for that step up and elevation in their career.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite new business and renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local business plan.
- Represent and promote Chubb corporately to brokers, internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Servicing key producers and clients, through an engaged programme of pro-active external visitation, monitoring business acquisition and retention as well as maximising cross-selling opportunities.
- Assist in formulating and implementing underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management in order to achieve underwriting profitability. To ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility.
- Assist with development of products within areas of specialist expertise in order to improve client retention and new business. This may involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally.
- Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues.
- Allocate resources to meet business objectives.
- Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of Commercial Underwriting.
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of legal liability and casualty underwriting and continues to develop technical knowledge & skills.
- Experience of dealing with Multinational and/or International business is preferred but not essential.
- Solid experience of dealing with brokers and clients.
- Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
- An experienced professional who is recognised externally for their considerable market experience.
- ACII preferred but not essential.
