Portable workshop Technician / Supervisor
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Workshop Technician who is interested/capable in becoming a Workshop Supervisor to lead a team of 2 workshop technicians.
Future Responsibilities will include:
- Supervise and work alongside a team of 2 workshop technicians.
- Oversee daily workshop operations to ensure workplace efficiency and high-quality standards.
- Ensure all processes comply with Australian Standards
- Oversee stock control, including ordering consumables and maintaining stock levels for service needs.
- Develop and implement efficient workplace procedures to optimize productivity.
- Liaise regularly with the store person, other supervisors, and portable technicians regarding stock and production needs.
- Assist with internal and external ISO audit processes.
- Complete internal invoicing, purchase ordering, and maintain associated documentation.
- Maintain production registers and all required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Stock management and deliveries to offsite storage site.
- Uphold workplace health and safety standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a small team.
- Good understanding of Australian Standards relevant to fire equipment servicing (training provided if required).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage stock control processes effectively.
- Competent with internal invoicing, purchase ordering, and general administration.
- Strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
Experience
- Previous experience in a workshop or production environment, preferably in a supervisory or team leader role.
- Familiarity with fire protection equipment servicing is highly desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
Additional Information
- This is a working role — applicants must be willing to actively participate in workshop tasks as needed.
- On-the-job training will be provided to ensure a clear understanding of compliance and workplace expectations.
- This position will transition from a workshop technician to supervisor role as you replace our current supervisor, who will be retiring at the end of 2025.
