Safeguarding Officer in Manchester

Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Safeguarding Officer to join our fantastic team at CHS South.

This is a Grade 6, permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £34,237.

This is a permanent, full time role starting once all pre-employment checks have been completed.

We're looking for:

• Experience working in attendance, safeguarding, pastoral support, education, or a similar role.
• A good understanding of safeguarding practices and learner wellbeing.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
• A proactive approach to supporting learners and improving outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track learner attendance and punctuality.
• Identify and address attendance concerns through appropriate interventions.
• Support the management of safeguarding and welfare concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance and safeguarding records.
• Liaise with learners, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies.
• Conduct welfare checks and provide pastoral support where required.
• Promote a positive culture of attendance, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
• Produce attendance and safeguarding reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Main purpose of the job:

To support learners by promoting excellent attendance, safeguarding their wellbeing, and ensuring any welfare concerns are identified, recorded, and addressed appropriately. The role will work closely with learners, families, staff, and external agencies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
