Electrical Estimator/ Electrical Quantity Surveyor Required - Essex

Due to steady growth over the past couple of years my client is now looking to recruit an additional person into their commercial department to help support the Commercial Director.

This is a mid sized family owned businesses in the heart of Essex with projects across London & the South East working for some of the leading contractors with long term relationships.

This role would be ideal for someone with either office or on site experience looking to expand on their commercial knowledge and shadow an experienced manager who will provide support and training.

Electrical packages typically range up to £1m across a wide variety of sectors including commercial fit out, retail & residential.

The role will involve

  • Supporting the Estimating team with Electrical bids and tenders.
  • Prepare and submit prime cost estimates utilising Enterprise Estimating Software.
  • Liaise with internal and external engineers, consultants and subcontractors to construct and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare estimates.
  • Identify and provide alternative design proposals, solutions and value engineering options.
  • Establish and maintain tendering processes and conduct negotiations.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Support and encourage junior team members.
  • Monitor targets and work flow.
  • Control and organise tender documentation.
  • Tracking and reporting on analytics on a variety of campaigns, internal communications, and social media using varied reporting tools
  • You will be responsible for all your own workload and for looking after the project you are on.
  • You will also be required to be making all of your own decisions and will be expected to show initiative.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working for a Mechanical & Electrical sub-contractor.
  • Experience using estimating software packages such a Trimble.
  • Proficient using Excel.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare estimates.
  • Prepare and submit prime cost estimates utilising Trimble Estimating Software
