We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning, fast-growing house builder who is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing regional developer delivering fast-moving residential developments in partnership with Housing Associations.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing multiple developments from procurement through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with build programmes. You will be responsible for 3 or more developments, producing monthly CVR reports, managing subcontractor procurement and maintaining site start budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement of subcontractors and trades in a commercially focused manner
- Preparation and management of Site Start Budgets
- Monthly CVR reporting and cost to complete reporting
- Managing subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts
- Attending design meetings and advising on cost implications
- Preparing tender documentation and analysing subcontractor quotations
- Negotiating subcontractor packages and contract sums
- Issuing variation orders and development changes
- Cost reporting and identifying risks of overspend
- Liaising with Housing Associations and Employers Agents
- Attending site, project and commercial meetings
- Supporting junior staff and trainees where applicable
Experience & Requirements
- HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Experience working for a house builder or residential developer
- Knowledge of JCT forms of contract
- Experience working on fast-moving contracted developments for Housing Associations
- Experience producing monthly valuations and CVR reports
- Experience with COINS software (preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials and building regulations
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with Bluebeam or Viewpoint would be advantageous.
