They're now looking for an experienced Technical Director to join their Regional Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality residential developments from concept through to completion. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Technical Director, or an ambitious Head of Technical looking for the next step, to lead a talented technical team within one of the UK's leading housebuilders.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Managing Director, you'll take overall responsibility for the technical function across the region, ensuring the successful coordination of architectural and engineering design, securing all planning conditions and statutory approvals, and supporting the business from land acquisition through to site completion. As a key member of the Regional Board, you'll influence business decisions, drive innovation, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and commercially.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing regional Technical team.
- Managing the coordination of architectural, engineering and infrastructure design across multiple developments.
- Ensuring planning conditions, Building Regulations and warranty approvals are secured to programme.
- Working closely with Land, Commercial, Production and Sales to support successful project delivery.
- Driving value engineering initiatives while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Managing technical budgets, consultant appointments and professional fees.
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations.
- Supporting land appraisals and advising on technical risk during acquisitions.
- Representing the technical function as part of the Regional Leadership Team.
- Championing innovation, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional leadership skills. You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience within residential development or housebuilding.
- A proven track record leading multidisciplinary technical or engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of planning, Building Regulations and technical approvals.
- Experience managing external consultants and professional design teams.
- Commercial awareness with experience controlling technical budgets and delivering value engineering solutions.
- The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Experience reviewing development layouts, engineering infrastructure and architectural designs.
- A background in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Technical Design or a related discipline.
