On behalf of our client, a leading 5-star housebuilder, we are recruiting for an experienced Engineer / Senior Engineer to join a high-performing technical team delivering high-quality residential developments. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with strong residential infrastructure experience to play a key role across the full development lifecycle from initial site appraisal and planning support through to technical approvals and construction delivery.

The Role

You will provide engineering support across multiple residential developments, ensuring technical solutions are commercially viable, compliant, and practical. Working closely with internal departments, consultants, local authorities and utility providers, you will help drive projects forward efficiently and successfully. The successful candidate will either undertake engineering design in-house or manage and review external consultant designs to ensure the most cost-effective and buildable solutions are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Appraisals & Technical Viability
    • Prepare technical viability assessments and site constraint plans
    • Interpret geotechnical and environmental reports and provide recommendations
    • Assess ground conditions, foundations and remediation requirements
    • Support planning applications by resolving engineering and infrastructure issues
    • Coordinate utility enquiries and procure new utility proposals
  • Design & Technical Coordination
    • Manage external consultants for roads, sewers, drainage, levels and infrastructure design
    • Review engineering designs to ensure compliance, practicality and value
    • Coordinate with statutory bodies including Highway Authorities and Environment Agency
    • Ensure compliance with NHBC standards, Building Regulations and CDM regulations
    • Support planning and technical approval processes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Construction & Delivery Support
    • Ensure all engineering information is available prior to site start
    • Procure technical approvals for highways, drainage and utilities
    • Manage foundation and sub-structure design solutions
    • Resolve engineering and CML issues during construction
    • Prepare tender documentation for specialist ground improvement and foundation works
    • Support environmental, health & safety and site-specific action plans

Requirements

  • Proven experience within the residential housebuilding sector
  • Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, foundations and utilities
  • Experience managing external engineering consultants
  • Ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports
  • Strong understanding of technical approvals and regulatory requirements
  • Experience producing technical site appraisals and engineering solutions
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDS, Windes and MicroDrainage
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification (ICE or RICS accredited desirable)
