Chronos Energy are currently assisting their client to recruit a Junior Energy Analyst. The client is a design and build ESCO operating in the buoyant Heat Network sector in the UK. Working within the Energy Intelligence Team under the direction of the Energy Manager, the Head of Energy Intelligence and the Energy Manager will support and develop the right candidate to become a leading industry specialist in this area.

In this role, you will be a central player in the day-to-day energy analysis activities of the business supporting operations and engineering, offering a varied and dynamic role. This role requires a good knowledge of data analysis, modelling, utilities and operational knowledge of power and heating and cooling plants.

Responsibilities
  • Measure, monitor and report on plant physical performance (thermal and cooling efficiencies, electrical efficiencies, operational regimes, plant outputs, etc.)
  • Maintain and develop data collection to allow effective internal and external reporting
  • Investigate and improve all system losses (thermal and electrical losses, parasitic loads, etc.)
  • Report on energy efficiency and financial performance of energy sales
  • Identify adverse trends and opportunities for improvements
  • Carry out thermal & electrical balances identifying and rectifying any imbalances where possible
  • Ongoing analysis of the energy schemes trends and performance, diagnosing and recommendations for rectification to ensure that energy is delivered consistently and efficiently to meet contractual requirements
  • Calculate the energy revenues and costs
  • Support the wider EI team
  • Carry out regular review of Junifer data and compare with the EI team bulk data
  • Check Junifer consumer consumptions against benchmarking data and budgets
  • Monitor C3ntinel data for gaps, spikes, issues
Deliverables
  • Assess the current performance of the energy schemes
  • Perform variance to budget analysis
  • Support & Assist with the formation of energy budgets
  • Support the team by checking consumer consumptions against benchmarking data and budgets
  • Create and maintain consumer energy profiles and industry benchmarks
  • Check and maintain C3ntinel (AMR) data issues (gaps, spikes etc.) and support the EM where required
  • Refer any unresolved energy imbalances to Energy Intelligence team
  • Dealing with customer account queries, including suppliers
  • Support the EI team with ongoing supplier queries
  • Support on producing energy and carbon reports
  • Attendance of customer energy meetings where required and produce client reports
  • Support on ensuring the business meets all its regulator, sustainability and incentive reporting requirements
  • Measure and maintain records of scheme peaks, capacities and resilience
Qualifications
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Qualified to a minimum 2:1 degree level in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Discipline
Key Skills and Knowledge
  • Demonstrable competence in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • An understanding of the principles of district energy and CHP
  • Heating and cooling system design including a range of generation systems (CHP, Biomass, Boilers etc.) would be an advantage
  • Positive and proactive approach
  • Knowledge of Controls, VSDs and Metering Systems would be an advantage
  • Member of a Professional Institute, working towards chartership would be desirable
