The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.
Reporting to the Electrical Authorising Engineer (A.E.), the Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) will support the delivery of several M&E construction projects across the central and north regions. They will work with the construction management resources on the sites and specifically oversee the electrical safety and quality elements including providing Approved Person (AP) governance and sign off.
The suitable candidate for this role must have prior experience of working on Β£1m+ electrical projects in occupied buildings, preferably hospital energy centres, ideally as a Principal Contractor. This will include proven experience with lighting, Building Management Systems (BMS), HV/LV and connection to electricity distribution systems. Experience of working in boiler plant rooms, and combined heat and power plants will be beneficial. You will also be highly driven, an innovative thinker with a strong team working ethic to hit the ground running and thrive in this busy and successful organisation.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities- Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE)
- Supporting the day-to-day electrical safety across multiple sites.
- Proactively input into the review of electrical sub-contractor RAMS and liaising with the Contractor Project Managers to ensure timely issue.
- Own the timely reporting of any Accident, Incident or Near Miss on sites using the reporting and escalation procedures.
- Implementation and communication of electrical safe working practices at site level.
- Operational - Pre-Construction Stage
- Support the identification of buildability and logistical challenges on site to mitigate potential cost and time risks during Construction.
- Support the assessment of sub-contractor packages from a logistical H&S perspective.
- Contribute to the construction phase plans and draft site-specific electrical procedures with the project teams, for authorisation by the AE.
- Operational - Construction Stage
- Review sub-contractor method statements and risk assessments, ensure compliance during delivery of all works.
- Carry out regular inspections of installations to monitor progress, quality and compliance.
- Take and maintain regular records of progress and quality of the works.
- Input into monthly Project Review sessions with the Regional Operations Managers.
- Commissioning Stage
- Organise witness testing with consultants and statutory authorities.
- Ensure all commissioning is carried out in line with Regulations and standards including CIBSE and BSRIA codes of practice.
- Post Construction Stage
- Review sub-contractor operation and maintenance manual, and ensure all required information is included and to the required standards ahead of Client submission and handover.

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience- Current driving license
- Own transport
- 18th Edition Electrical Wiring qualification
- C&G **** or **** and **** or equivalent Test and Inspection Certificate
- First Aid at work qualified
- CITB SMSTS or SSSTS
- C&G Accredited LVAP Course
- Substantial experience working with a Tier 1 or 2 contractor.
- Experience working with Lighting retrofits, BMS, Connection to electricity and gas distribution systems, Understanding of HV and LV systems
- M&E quality control and commissioning processes.
- 3 years / suitable experience working on mid-range (Β£1m+) complex electrical refurbishment schemes in a multi-disciplinary project team.
- Understanding of national standards such as CIBSE, HTMs, HBNs, BSENs (especially IET regulations), Building Regulations
- Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Communicates own ideas and points of view with conviction, where necessary acknowledging their limitations.
- Listens respectfully to views and ideas of others, embracing and developing them.
- Provides honest, respectful feedback (positive and negative).
- Risk tolerant β able and willing to deal with uncertainty, managing it effectively
