Chronos Energy are working with a global engineering consultancy who are leaders in the field of low carbon energy. They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Energy Engineer to join their UK team. You can be based in any one of their UK offices on a hybrid basis and will work on projects in the UK and overseas.
The electrical discipline area is integral to the clients' needs as they see an increasing need to electrify systems. This includes working with clients on viable electrical systems and connections strategies. Clients include developers, local authorities, university campuses, and network operators.
This role is significant in leading and delivering key electrical projects, working with colleagues both within the energy team and other discipline areas. The successful candidate will find themselves in a position of responsibility working directly with senior team members and mentoring junior engineers. They will be contributing directly to the technical strategy and leading design activities on a varied and exciting portfolio of projects.
Required Skills- Degree level, or equivalent, in electrical/power systems engineering or related discipline
- Demonstrable expertise in electrical system design typically in medium voltage (MV) levels with low voltage (LV) interfacing
- A clear understanding of the interface requirements of electrical systems in low carbon system design e.g., storage, renewables, low carbon heating, demand side response, electric vehicles, and energy efficiency
- Ability to apply a systems approach to complex problems in the energy and built environment sectors
- Ability to manage themselves effectively across multiple projects including project and programme management skills
- Experience of working in client-facing roles
- Strong numerical analysis and modelling skills
- Familiarity and practitioner experience working with network modelling and energy system modelling techniques
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to contribute to project fee proposals and bids working with senior team members on strategy
- Be open to serving as Line Manager to junior staff members, providing pastoral support, career guidance, and day-to-day mentoring
- Project management experience in delivery of projects
- Commercial and economic experience in evaluating project design costs
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical system interfaces and digital operating systems
- Experience of utility providers systems and applications process
- Hold chartered status or be on a path to achieve chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g. CIBSE, IET, Energy Institute)
- Be familiar with design tools such as PowerFactory, PVSyst, EnergyPro, and ProDesign
