Chronos Energy have partnered with a leading UK utility infrastructure provider specialising in the development, operation, and management of large-scale heat networks. We are recruiting for an Operations and Maintenance Engineer to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heat and cooling assets. The role will involve managing control systems, coordinating service providers, and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service to clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal and external maintenance activities in line with regulations, insurance requirements, and industry best practice.
- Monitor and oversee energy centres, ensuring optimal performance of generation assets and control systems.
- Identify and address underperformance or non-compliance issues.
- Support process improvements and implement plant maintenance policies.
- Provide clear management reports on performance and key focus areas.
- Ensure accurate operation of heat metering equipment to enable correct and timely billing.
- Maintain a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in an engineering discipline or a recognised apprenticeship.
- Operational experience managing heating, cooling, generation plant, and distribution assets.
- Proven contractor management experience with financial accountability.
- Strong knowledge of asset management and regulatory compliance.
- In-depth understanding of industry standards, codes of practice, health, safety, environmental requirements, and legislation.
- Experience in contract and contractor management within the heat sector.
- Strong commercial awareness with focus on cost efficiency, KPIs, and service levels.
- Excellent client relationship and contractor management skills.
- Proficient in IT and computer systems.
