Chronic Minds is a new therapy service built specifically for individuals affected by chronic illness, disability, and their families.

We are launching with a funded contract from a chronic illness charity in Leeds and are expanding into direct-to-consumer, virtual sessions.

We offer clients sessions with either a Level 4 BACP qualified counsellor, or a discounted rate with a Level 4 trainee counsellor, completing their placement hours with us.

We are looking for one senior counsellor who both delivers sessions and oversees trainee supervision.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Level 4 BACP/NCPS registered counsellor with a formal supervision qualification to join us as our first clinical lead. This is a dual-function role:

Direct delivery

: Providing time-limited therapy to individuals with long-term health conditions and their families / carers.

Supervision

: Providing remote group and 1:1 supervision to Level 4 trainee counsellors.

You will shape our clinical protocols, safeguard our trainees and clients, and ensure we meet the reporting requirements of our charity funders.

Location & Practice Setting

In-person sessions are held at your own premises in Leeds (home-based practice welcome).

We do not require you to rent external rooms.

We are looking for therapists who already have, or can establish, a suitable space within their existing setup.

All supervision is conducted remotely, providing flexibility and allowing you to integrate this work seamlessly alongside your existing commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Delivery
  • Deliver 1:1 counselling (virtually and face-to-face at your premises) to adults with chronic illness and disabilities, and their families / carers.
  • Use outcome measurement tools (e. g., PHQ-9, GAD-7, WEMWBS) to track progress and report to funders.
  • Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant clinical notes.
  • Supervision & Clinical Governance
  • Provide remote group and 1:1 supervision to Level 4 trainees completing their placement hours.
  • Review and sign off trainee notes and clinical practice against BACP ethical frameworks.
  • The Benefits
  • Guaranteed caseload from day one via our funded charity contract.
  • Separate, competitive compensation for direct sessions and supervision hours.
  • Genuine influence over clinical culture in a mission focused organisation.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate your existing commitments.
  • The Person (Essential)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (or equivalent).
  • Recognised clinical supervision qualification.
  • BACP, NCPS, or equivalent registration.
  • Confident in safeguarding and risk assessment.
  • Has suitable premises in Leeds for in-person sessions (home-based practice welcome).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
